Here is some rules that you need to know in garage.


1. You need to wear overalls, safety shoes and gloves.
2. You need to use safety goggles and hearing protection when you use grinder etc.
3. You cant drink or eat in garage.
4. Use common sense in garage.
5. Remember to wash your hands carefully before leaving garage.
6. If you need to weld something remember to go away from flammable substances and use welding mask and gloves.
7. If you lift up car with car lifter, watch out there is nobody under it.

Light bulbs and light bulb change

I have done a lot of light bulb changes at school and work placement. Light bulb change is usually easy job, because usually you have to change head light, tail light or indicator bulbs. Car have many more light bulbs and these are little harder to change like, gauge bulbs, dashboard bulbs, and other interior or trunk bulbs.

 

Older cars have usually halogen light bulbs and newer cars have LEDs and xenon lights. All cars have different head lights, and there are many different bulbs. Halogens, LEDs and xenon’s are in H1, H2, H3, H4 (P45T and P43T), H7, 9007, 9004, 9006 and 9005.

 

Light bulb change to head light or tail light is simple and easy work.

• Pop up hood or trunk.
• Then take off some plastic covers and wires off.
• Pick old blub out and put new blubs in.
• Put wires & covers back.

1. Open hood, and slide power steering fluid container out of its clamp.
2. Then take light bulb covers out from both headlights.
3. Then take H4 bulbs plugs off. Release bulbs clamps and take old bulbs off.
4. Put new bulbs in and put the clamps on.
5. Put plugs to bulbs and covers back to headlights.
6. Slide power steering fluid container back to its place and close the hood.

BRAKE FIXES

In school and on-the-job learning I have done many car brake fixes. Mostly disc brake repairs, for example brake fluid change, brake discs and brake pads change, and brake caliper changes etc.

When you only change brake pads you need to clean all sliding surfaces & bolts, and put the copper paste at sliding surfaces & sliding bolts at calipers.

And when you change brake fluids, you must check which brake fluid is suitable. DOT3 and DOT4 is most common brake fluids. You need pneumatic air brake oil fluid extractor, and with this tool you need to suck old brake fluids out of the brake calipers. And at same time you must add new brake fluid to brake fluid reservoir, so that it does not go all the way empty and suck air in to the system.

Milloin lain mukaan henkilöautoon on vaihdettava kesärenkaat? Onko laissa ilmoitettu päivämäärä ehdoton takaraja vai voiko siitä poiketa ja millä perusteella? – Aikaisintaan kesärenkaat saa vaihtaa 1.3 huomioiden olosuhteet, ja laki velvoittaa vaihtamaan kesärenkaat alle maaliskuun loppuun mennessä tai toisen pääsiäispäivän jälkeisenä maanantaina. Poiketa voi, jos sää lupailee vielä yöpakkasia tai asuu syrjemmässä, jossa on lunta ja jäätä teillä pidempään.

Paljonko on henkilöauton kesärenkaissa oltava kulutuspintaa? – Pääurien syvyys pitää lain mukaan olla kesärenkaissa 1,6mm ja talvirenkaissa 3,0mm.

Kuinka paljon halkaisijaltaan suuremmat vanteet saa henkilöautoon asentaa ilman muutoskatsastusta? – Yhden tuuman isommat. Esim. jos on ollut 15’’, niin saa laittaa 16’’.

Nelipilari nosturin puhdistelua

Keskiviikkona 23.11 puhdistelimme nelipilarinosturia. Siivosimme keventimen kiskot ja itse kevennintä puhdistelimme. Myös puhdistimme lattiaa nosturin alta ja imuroimme nosturin välejä. Keventimen kiskoissa oli isompi työ, kun olivat tosi likaiset.

Aloitimme opettajamme autoon ruostekorjausta, olemme vasta tehneet pari paikkaa. Ruoste korjaukset tulevat pohjaan kaikki, 5 paikkaa.
